Over 50 years in the making, the Shelford Channel represents the pinnacle of Rupert Neve’s classic console designs, such as the 1073, 1081, and 2254, thoughtfully reimagined for modern studios. It features Rupert’s first new transformer-gain, class-A mic preamp in over four decades, a “best-of-the-classics” inductor EQ, a dynamic Diode Bridge Compressor, and variable Silk saturation. Enhanced with a dual-tap transformer output and double voltage power, it brings vintage warmth with unmatched versatility.

Mic Preamp and Transformer Gain:

The Shelford Channel features a revolutionary transformer-gain mic preamp, the first in over 40 years. Its custom RN4012 transformer delivers 15dB of gain, combined with discrete, class-A amplifiers for a total of 72dB. This topology ensures the smooth high and low frequencies synonymous with Rupert’s legendary designs while maintaining ultra-low noise and superior isolation. Additional features include a sweepable high-pass filter, 48V phantom power, and polarity reverse.

Dual-Tap Transformer with Silk Saturation:

The RN2042 output transformer provides two options: high headroom for clean signals or low headroom for dynamic coloration. Variable Silk adds harmonic richness, with Red mode enhancing high frequencies and Blue mode boosting lows. This versatility ensures classic tone or bold modern saturation at your fingertips.

Hi-Z Direct Input:

The front panel DI offers exceptional clarity and punch for high-Z sources, utilizing the RN4012 transformer for unmatched low-end depth and smooth highs. It includes a passive THRU output for seamless integration with external amplifiers.

“Best of the Classics” EQ:

The 3-band inductor EQ combines the creamy lows of the 1064, the vocal-forward mids of the 1073, and a hybrid vintage-modern high band. With class-A low-feedback circuitry, it delivers rich tone without harshness. Flexible controls, including peak/shelf for the low band, make it a versatile tool for modern production.

Diode Bridge Compressor:

Modeled on the iconic 2254, the Shelford Channel’s compressor offers punch and warmth with advanced control. Features include 6 attack/release timing settings, adjustable ratio, threshold, blend, and side-chain options. Its full-wave rectification and wide headroom provide powerful, precise compression for any source.

Enhanced Power Design:
